EPF Withdrawal Partially - Conditions

The asset, i.e. land or the house should be in the name of the employee or jointly with the spouse.
b. It can be withdrawn just once for this purpose during the entire service. c. Construction should begin within 6 months and must be completed within 12 months from last withdrawn instalment.
5 Home loan repayment Least of below: Up to 36 times of monthly basic salary + DA OR Total corpus consisting of employer and employee’s contribution with interest. OR Total outstanding principal & interest on housing loan 10 years a. The property should be registered in the name of the employee or spouse or jointly with the spouse.
b. Withdrawal permitted subject to furnishing of requisite documents as stated by the EPFO relating to the housing loan availed.
c. The accumulation in the member’s PF account (or together with the spouse), including the interest, has to be more than Rs 20,000.
6 House renovation Least of the below: Up to 12 times the monthly wages & DA OR Employees contribution with interest OR Total cost 5 years a. The property should be registered in the name of the employee or spouse or jointly held with the spouse.
b. The facility can be availed twice:
1. After 5 years of the completion of the house
2. After the 10 years of the completion of the house

Procedure For EPF Withdrawal

For Offline:

Withdrawal Form/ Composite Claim Form (does not require attestation by the employer) Required to fill Composite Claim Form – serves purpose of three forms – Form 19 (For Final PF  Settlement), Form 10C (For Pension Withdrawal) and Form 31 (For Part-withdrawal of PF amount).

Procedure:

Composite Form (Aadhar): If EPFO member has updated his Aadhaar and bank account number on  the UAN portal and has submitted the new Form-11(Declaration by a person taking up employment in  any establishment) to his employer at the time of joining the job, then he will fill the Composite Claim  Form (Aadhaar) form. (REF 2) 

Composite Form (Non-Aadhar): Form is applicable for those who have not seeded their EPF account  with Aadhaar and their UAN is not activated (REF 2) 

For Online:

 Employees do not need to wait for an approval from their employer for withdrawing their EPF.  By linking UAN and Aadhar to your EPF account, you can get the approval online. While making the  claim online, you must have

  1. An active UAN number and Mobile number used for activating UAN
  2. Bank details linked with UAN, PAN and Aadhar details seeded into EPF database
Procedure:
  1. Visit the UAN portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  2. Login with UAN and Password
  3. Click on Manage and select KYC to check whether details are correct and verified or not
  4. After verifying details, go to Online Services tab and select the Option Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)
  5. The Claim screen will display member details, KYC details and other details.
  6. Enter last 4 digits of bank account and click on verify
  7. Click on Yes to sign the certificate of undertaking
  8. Click on “Processed for Online Claim
  9. Apply two times “One for Form 19 (only PF withdrawal) and another of Form 10 (only pension  withdrawal)”
  10. Click on “get Aadhar OTP” (OTP will be sent to registered Mobile number)
  11. Note: After applying PF withdrawal request, PF office will take 25-30 days to settle the claim.  As per PF rules, employee can withdraw their PF in case of Un-employed for 2 months. If an  employee working else-where in other companies is tracked through UAN/Aadhaar/Mobile  number etc. and may lead for legal complications. KYC details (BANK, PAN, AADHAAR)  must be updated by EPF member on UAN portal
  • KYC details must be approved by employer
  • Date of exit must be update by employer
  • Name, Gender & Date of Birth must be matched between UAN portal & KYC
  • Aadhaar number must be linked with an active mobile number

EPF system auto verify PAN from Name and Date of Birth and Aadhaar from Name, Gender and  Date of Birth so status of your PAN and Aadhaar on UAN portal must be “VERIFIED”. If correction of Name, Date of birth or gender is required on UAN than need to raise online request  on UAN portal. 

If correction is required on PAN, Aadhaar& Bank Account than you need to get in touch with  respective authority.

Procedure For EPF Transfer

Eligibility: (REF 5)
  • Employee should have activated his UAN on the EPF portal
  • Employee should seed his Aadhar and bank details such as the account number and IFSC code  which should have been verified by the employer at the time of making transfer request. Date of Joining (DoJ) and Date of Exit (DoE) should be mentioned on the portal along with the  reason for exit.
  • Only one transfer request against one member ID is accepted by EPFO
Procedure: (REF 6)
  1. Login to your EPF account using UAN and password
  2. Click on the ‘Transfer Request’ option in the ‘Online Services’ section
  3. Click on “Get MID” (to enter previous PF account details)
  4. Enter previous PF code details (Fill up the details such as State, office/Region, Company PF code  and then click on “Get MID”)
  5. Click on the check box next to your previous employer name and then click on Get OTP and enter  OTP then submit
  6. Transfer Claim successfully submitted & click on “Track Status” (Under Step 2) to know the status  of claim
  7. Submit the self-attested copy of online PF transfer request to selected employer within a period of  10 days.
  8. The employer then approves the PF transfer request digitally and once the approval is made, the PF is transferred to new account with current employer
  9. The employee has to download the Transfer Claim Form (Form 13) and if required, the employee  has to submit it to the employer to complete the process of EPF transfer
Documents Required:
  • Forms: PF Transfer Form and Form 13
  • Valid Identity Proof (PAN, Aadhar or Driving License)
  • UAN
  • Current employer’s details
  • Establishment Number
  • Account Number
  • Bank account details of the salary account
  • Old and current PF account details

Recent Amendments

  • Reduction in statutory rate of contributions from 12% to 10% for wage months May, 2020, June, 2020  and July, 2020 (REF 3)
  • Employees’ Provident Fund subscribers can now withdraw Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance (DA) of  three months, or 75 per cent of their PF money, whichever is lower, as a non-refundable advance to  face the COVID-19 crisis. (REF 4)

Voluntary Provident Fund Contribution

  • Voluntary fund contribution is the extra amount from the employee towards his provident fund account.
  • This contribution is beyond the 12% of contribution by an employee towards his EPF Maximum contribution is up to 100% of his Basic Salary and Dearness Allowance VPF option is available only to salaried individuals who receive their monthly payments through a  specific salary account. (REF 7)
  • Employer can also make VPF contribution for its employees. There is no limit on the amount of VPF  contribution that an employer may make i.e. total of EPF and VPF contribution may be 100% of  monthly pay. (REF 8)
  • Option for VPF contribution can be availed by an employee by informing his/her employer in a manner  prescribed by the employer.
  • On receiving VPF contribution request from an employee, the employer will deduct VPF contribution  from the employee’s salary and deposit in the provident fund account of the employee. (REF 8)
  • VPF contribution will be reflected in the same EPF account of the employee.

How to activate UAN

  • Visit the website https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. Click on Active UAN
  • Fill the details asked i.e. UAN Number, Name, DOB and Mobile Number. Type the Captcha and click  on “Get Authentication Pin”
  • You will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Copy it. Verify all the details and tick the check box  of “I Agree”.
  • Paste the OTP in the “Enter OTP” option and click Validate OTP and Activate UAN

How to update KYC

  • Visit the website https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ Login to your EPF account using UAN and password
  • Click on KYC under “Manage” Option
  • Fill the details such as Bank details, PAN, Aadhar etc. and click on save
  • Once you will the details, the status of KYC document will be showing “KYC Pending for Approval” After updation, send signed scanned copy of PAN Card, Aadhar Card and Cancelled cheque for digital  approval
  • Once your employer has verified and approved it, the status will be shown as “digitally Approved KYC”
  • Note:Name must be same on all documents, else you can’t update the KYC. Father name & DOB must be match between UAN Portal and Aadhaar & PAN. Check Bank account number & IFSC code carefully

How to generate PF E-Passbook

  • Visit the website https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp
  • Login to view your Passbook using UAN and Password
  • Click on the EPF Member ID under “Select Member ID to View Passbook”
  • Your passbook will open in the next tab in PDF format, which can be downloaded and printed.

Online PF Advance Process

  • Visit the website https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  • Login with UAN and Password
  • Go to Online Services tab and select the Option Claim (Form-31, 19 & 10C)
  • Enter last 4 digits of bank account and click on verify. Click on “Processed for Online Claim” Select PF Advance (Form 31) under the tab “I want to apply for, to withdraw your fund. Also, provide  the purpose of withdrawal, amount required and employee’s address
  • Click on “get Aadhar OTP” (OTP will be sent to registered Mobile number)
  • Note:After applying PF withdrawal request, PF office will take 25-30 days to settle the claim. KYC details must be approved by employer Name, Gender & Date of Birth must be matched between UAN portal & KYC Aadhaar number must be linked with an active mobile number EPF system will auto verify PAN from Name and Date of Birth and Aadhaar from Name, Gender  and Date of Birth so status of your PAN and Aadhaar on UAN portal must be “VERIFIED”. If correction of Name, Date of birth or gender is required on UAN than need to raise online request  on UAN portal.

How to correct the basic details

  • Visit the website https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  • Login with UAN and Password
  • Go to “Manage tab” & select “Modify basic Details”.
  • Enter details as per Aadhar card and click on “Update Details”
  • Note:Request will be submitted to the Employer for further approval Post approval request, it will be diverted automatically to PF Office for further approval. They will  take few days’ time for approval.

In case, there is no update even after 25-30 days, you can also raise the grievance to EPFO directly

How to Re-Set the Password

  • Visit the website https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  • Click on “Forgot Password”
  • Enter UAN and enter Captcha then submit
  • Click “Yes” if you wish to send OTP on the above mobile number. Then you will receive 4 Digit OTP
  • Enter the OTP and then click on “Verify”
  • Please set the “New Password” and then click on submit.
